2022 Partisan Primary; ballots available

For those who have requested to receive absentee ballots by mail, those have been mailed.  Ballots requested after June 22, 2022 for the August 9, 2022 Partisan Primary are mailed after receiving a request.  Absentee voting in the Clerk’s Office began on July 26, 2022 during regular business hours (Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM until 2:00 PM) and extended hours on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM.  You will need to provide proof of identity when voting early or on Election Day, August 9, 2022 (WI Driver’s License, military ID, US Passport, etc.).  There is no voting on the Monday preceding the Election.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court upheld a recent lower court ruling to prevent the return of mailed absentee ballots to drop boxes in the municipal clerk’s office when the clerk is not present.  Similarly, spouses, parents, children, etc. cannot return ballots sent by mail to the municipal clerk on behalf of another elector, only the person to whom the ballot has been sent can do so.

Some candidates have recently dropped out of consideration for certain offices.  If you have already voted a ballot and want to vote a new ballot, you may request spoiling the first and requesting a second, although time is limited to receive one by mail and return it by no later than 8:00 PM on August 9, 2022.  You may stop by the  Clerk’s office this week during regular hours to handle this as well.  If you already returned your ballot by mail or in person and plan to vote a different ballot on Election Day, you must request the first ballot to be spoiled by 5 PM on Thursday, August 4, 2022 (in writing) or by 5 PM on Friday, August 5, 2022 (in writing) if indefinitely confined or a military voter.  More information can be found here.
